WEST BATON ROUGE - Two area youth football teams are getting the opportunity of a lifetime as they face off on their biggest stage yet.

Young athletes from Brusly and Port Allen are taking the field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome during their half-time show at Thursday's Saint's game.

Every year, youth teams from around the country are invited to play in an NFL atmosphere.

"They have a million little league teams and we were chosen," said League President Shawn Brown. "So I know I'm excited, and I'm sure the kids are excited."

The Port Allen Westside Bulldogs coach says this opportunity is especially significant for this group of kids.

"They don't get the opportunity to go vacationing or get out of town as much as maybe some other cities or other parishes," Brown said. "So this opportunity gives them the chance to get out, see more than the inner city, and enjoy themselves."

"We're very excited," said Jonathan Veal, a 7th grade player. "We've been waiting on this a very long time."
