Local Red Cross volunteers head to Jackson
BATON ROUGE - A spokesperson from the local Red Cross said two volunteers are driving an Emergency Response Vehicle from Baton Rouge to Jackson, Mississippi to provide support to those affected by the recent tornado outbreak.
An American Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle can provide up to 3,000 meals a day and help with the bulk distribution of goods through the American Red Cross.
These volunteers join six other South Louisiana volunteers that deployed earlier this week to provide support and other assistance in the affected area. More volunteers are on standby and ready to deploy if necessary.
