BATON ROUGE- A humane society in East Baton Rouge Parish is asking the public to help identify a man seen throwing a dog over the fence to their property.

The Capital Area Animal Welfare Society posted photos on their Facebook page that shows a man pulling up in a white pickup and gets out with a dog on a leash. The man then throws the dog over the property's fence. CAAWS, says the man didn't have to throw the dog over the fence, because the fence was open.

"Abandonment of an animal is considered animal cruelty," said CAAWS volunteer Julie Amador.  "You could have contacted us, we could have seen if we could work with him to place the animal."

Now CAAWS is working to place this man behind bars.

"I would like to see him arrested, and charged with animal cruelty. It is something that can go on your record permanently," says Amador.

CAAWS says once the abandoned dog goes to the vet, gets all his shots and is neutered, he'll be put up for adoption.

If you know the person responsible, call the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office.
