Local food blogger launches BBQ sauce
BATON ROUGE - It's launch week for Jay D's Louisiana Barbecue Sauce, as the original sauce hits shelves the first week in July. Creator and food blogger Jay Ducote stopped by the station and gave us a primer on his new sauce and the spree of events he will be holding in the coming days.
Ducote said his sauce is a true Louisiana barbecue taste that puts a spin on the traditional flavor of Memphis, Texas and Carolina sauces. It uses cane syrup and brown sugar for sweetness, but goes all out in the Louisiana spice department with creole mustard, cayenne pepper, hot sauce and cajun pepper sauce. It's a tomato-based sauce with a fair bit of vinegar that combines the best of all traditional barbecue sauces with Louisiana sweetness and spice.
The launch events for Jay D's Louisiana Barbecue Sauce continue tonight from 4 to 7 p.m. with a sauce tasting and bottle signing at Red Stick Spice Company on Government St. and continue throughout the week. The schedule of events for the rest of the launch celebration are listed below:
