Local church to talk Spirituality and Sexuality
BATON ROUGE - Broadmoor United Methodist Church will hold discussions of "Spirituality and Sexuality" the next three Sundays.
According to a press release, the series will cover a variety of topics including the sexualization of children, human trafficking, homosexuality and the viewpoints of the United Methodist Church regarding those issues. Regarding homosexuality, Broadmoor United Methodist says they "aren't trying to indoctrinate anyone, but talk about what the Bible really says about homosexuality".
We spoke to Broadmoor United Methodist Senior Pastor Fred Wideman about the discussions. He believes talking about sexuality and its place in the church is important.
"Scripture teachers us that human sexuality is a gift from God, that we're created in God's image, all of it good, if not very good," Wideman opined. "However, we live in a world where we have so much pain and suffering regarding issues related to human sexuality.
The discussions start on Sunday following the 11:00 a.m. service at Broadmoor United Methodist Church. Subsequent discussions will take place on August 17 and 24th.
