Livonia opens Guy Mistretta era with win over Live Oak
LIVE OAK - Livonia may have a new head coach, but they picked up where they left off from last year, starting their season with a 41-19 win at Live Oak on Friday night.
Guy Mistretta is no stranger to winning, having won at both his previous stops at Redeptorist and the Dunham School. He starts off his tenure with the Wildcats with a win as well.
The Wildcats built a 20-6 lead at the half and continued to build on their momentum out of halftime with a 50-yard touchdown run by quarterback Cee Jay Powell to take a 27-6 lead.
Live Oak tried to stay in the game as Michael Claverie found Markell Rudison for a 21-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 27-13.
Livonia proved too tough, as the Wildcats answered right back with a 23-yard Malcolm Dedrick touchdown run to put the Wildcats back up by three scores, 34-13.
