LIVINGSTON- Residents in Livingston Parish are bracing for more flooding Monday morning. Officials are telling people to prepare for high water that will be moving through the area sometime early this week.

The Amite River has not yet crested near French Settlement and Port Vincent. People in the Springfield area are also keeping an eye on the rising water levels. Residents are doing what they can to protect their property and belongings before the water rushes in.

Officials in Livingston Parish implemented a curfew for residents in hard-hit areas until dawn Monday morning. Livingston Parish schools were also cancelled Monday, along with those in Ascension and Tangipahoa Parish.

On Friday, a command center was set up at the Denham Springs Police Department to help residents deal with the high waters. An Emergency Operations Center was also set up on Government Boulevard in Livingston to assist other people affected by the flooding.

Over the weekend, officials reduced their lessened their prediction for the Amite river crests. The National Weathrer Service is forecasting the Amite River to crest at 11.5 ft. rather than 13 ft. in Port Vincent. But, officials are still advising residents to be ready for flooding.

Weather officials are telling residents around the capital area to prepare for the flooding conditions to stick around until the end of this week.
