LIVINGSTON - Authorities in Livingston and Ascension parishes lifted their waterway restrictions Monday which had been put in place due to recent heavy rain.

Brandi Janes, the deputy director of the Livingston Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, said all the parish waterways were back available for recreational boaters as of 9 a.m. Monday.

Janes said boaters should be aware that water levels are still higher than usual, and to take it slow to avoid pushing any structures up against the banks and damaging them.

Later Monday morning, Ascension Parish officials announced all boat launches in the parish would reopen at noon.

The waterway closures began on Oct. 26 following heavy rainfall that passed through the region.
