KILLIAN - People in Livingston Parish returned to their homes today to begin cleaning up after flooding caused by Tropical Storm Lee this weekend.
"Bleaching down everything, power washing everything... We'll be cleaning up for the next couple of days for sure." said Killian resident Jason Pennington, whose downstairs bathroom was ruined. He said he was shocked how quickly the water came in.
"I mean one second it's barely coming up the concrete, and the next minute it's a foot deep downstairs," he said.
Parish President Mike Grimmer and damage assessment teams with the state toured the flooded areas of lower Livingston Parish today.
The teams will get an idea of how much assistance people who were flooded out may need to replace uninsurable losses.
Grimmer said anyone with flood damage should take pictures to document what was lost, which will help them if public assistance is made available.
