Vote on Livingston-Ascension toll route scheduled tonight
LIVINGSTON- The Livingston Parish Council is scheduled to vote tonight on creating a toll authority for the Livingston Ascension Throughway.
The project would provide drivers with an alternate route between Airline Highway and Interstate 12.
Livingston Parish President Layton Ricks is optimistic the council will back the plan. He says it requires the parish to spend $10,000 and hire a private construction firm. Ricks says it also creates a board to oversee the toll price.
Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez says Ascension will monitor the Livingston vote. He says if the plan is approved, the Ascension council will consider the same move.
