LIVE VIDEO: Two explosions at Boston Marathon finish line
BOSTON- Two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon have resulted in at least two deaths, according to Boston Police.
Through their official Twitter account, Boston Police said two were dead and 23 injured by a pair of explosions near the marathon's finish line this afternoon.
About three hours after the winners crossed the line, there was a loud explosion on the north side of Boylston Street, just before the photo bridge that marks the finish line.
Another explosion could be heard a few seconds later.
Teams from Varsity Sports sporting goods store in Baton Rouge were competing in the race. The store said on their Facebook page that members of the team texted to let them know they were okay.
Bloody spectators were taken to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners.
Marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be in the race, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg.
A Boston police officer was also wheeled from the race course with a leg injury.
News 2 will have more details on the status of Louisiana residents at the marathon tonight starting at 4 p.m.
