BATON ROUGE - Phone, internet and email on the LSU campus could be out through the weekend after contractors accidentally cut through a series of fiber-optic lines, according to a school spokesperson.
Ernie Ballard said the outage covers much of the eastern side of the Baton Rouge campus, including the LSU Systems Office, East Campus Apartments, Lab School, and International Cultural Center.
Repair efforts are underway, but Ballard said it take several days for all services to be fully restored. He said telephone and network usage are right now scheduled to be back up by Sunday evening.
Crews are working around the clock, and phone numbers for offices within the system building are being temporarily re-routed.
