NEW ORLEANS - Just a few days after his release from prison, Baton Rouge rapper Torrence Hatch aka Lil Boosie held his first public media event in New Orleans.

Sitting on a gold-colored throne, Hatch said he wrote more than a thousand songs while serving an eight-year sentence for drug charges. Hatch said he'd been in the studio every night since his release on March 5, which came more than two months early because state corrections officials said he'd earned good behavior and educational credits.

In 2012 a jury found Hatch not guilty of charges he hired someone to kill several people in the Baton Rouge area. Mike Louding was convicted of carrying out those killings, and authorities said he'd told them Hatch had ordered the killings before changing his story during his testimony in Hatch's trial.

Atlantic Records and Trill Entertainment scheduled the invite-only event in New Orleans Monday for members of the media to speak to Hatch.

News 2's Chris Nakamoto is in New Orleans for the event, and will have more details tonight.
