AMITE, La. - Tangipahoa Parish voters will be asked to renew a tax the supports the parish library system.

The Advocate reports the Tangipahoa Parish Council has placed the issue on the Oct. 19 ballot.

Voters will decide whether to reauthorize a 2.81-mill tax for 10 years.

Officials say the tax should generate about $1.4 million a year for support of the library system.
