BATON ROUGE - A section of River Road from Farr Park, south of Brightside Drive, to Ben Hur Road has been closed for months as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers fixes problems with the levee.

During historic flooding in 2011, the area known as Duncan Point had sand boil problems where water from the river was seeping through cracks in the pavement and the front yards of nearby neighborhoods.

The construction is expected to fix those problems and prevent future issues. We'll have more tonight on News 2 at 5 and 6pm.
