Letterman Apologizes to his Wife
Late Night comic David Letterman said last week he probably wound't talk about the attempt to extort 2 million dollars from him because he had affairs with female members of his staff, but he did it today. He publically apologized to his wife, Regina Lasko, during the taping of his show saying he has his work cut out for him as he tries to repair his marriage. Letterman made the admission last week after CBS News producer Robert Halderman was arrested for extortion. Prosecutors say Halderman used passages from the diary of his former live-in girlfriend, Stephanie Birkitt, to hatch the plot. She was a regular on camera for many of Letterman's skits. Harlderman recently produced a story about New York City mob boss John Gotti and hired Gotti's lawyer to defend him against the extortion charges.
