BATON ROUGE - LSU football coach Les Miles knows his team can improve from its 41-14 win over North Texas last Saturday, and the Tigers will have to in order to beat a quality Washington team this weekend.
Miles said that the Huskies will present a much tougher challenge in general, and that their offense, led by quarterback Keith Price, is more capable than the Mean Green. Miles insisted that LSU's defensive line will have to pressure Price on Saturday night for the Tigers to be successful.
When asked about the running backs, Miles said that Spencer Ware is getting over the final effects of a fall camp injury, and that the staff would like to get freshman running back Jeremy Hill involved in game action in the near future.
Defensively, linebacker Tahj Jones' academic status may prevent him from playing at all this year. Miles also acknowledged that there's nothing going on with Sam Montgomery, who did not start and did not register a tackle in Saturday's win. His decision to start senior Lavar Edwards was to create multiple starters at the defensive end position.
Captains for this week's game are Jarvis Landry (Offense), KeKe Mingo (Defense) and Alfred Blue (Special Teams).
