Lee takes reigns of Port Allen
PORT ALLEN- The city's newest mayor was sworn in Tuesday evening.
Richard Lee was elected in a special election earlier this month to fill Deedy Slaughter's term after she was recalled at the end of 2013. Slaughter ran for the seat and lost to Lee.
Lee took the oath in front of a packed crowd at city hall. He said he plans to help restore the city's damaged image.
"The main thing is unity and moving the city in a positive direction, creating an attractive atmosphere for the city and attracting businesses so we can grow and prosper," Lee said.
