Lee tabbed as Tulane's starting quarterback
NEW ORLEANS - Redshirt-freshman Tanner Lee will be Tulane's starting quarterback when the Green Wave open the 2014 season at Tulsa on Aug. 28.
Lee, of Destrehan, entered preseason camp atop the depth chart after a solid showing during spring practice. Coach Curtis Johnson says Lee cemented the starting post with a good showing in last week's scrimmage despite stiff competition from incumbent starter Nick Montana and sophomore Devin Powell.
Johnson says Lee has a strong arm, command of the offense and great leadership skills. He says Powell is No. 2 on the depth chart followed by Montana.
Lee was a three-year letterman at Jesuit High School where he helped guide the Blue Jays to a combined 30-8 overall record, a 9-3 showing in district play and three-consecutive trips to the state playoffs.
