LED deputy secretary to lead agency
BATON ROUGE - The deputy secretary of the Louisiana Department of Economic Development is moving up to the top job at the agency.
Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Friday that Steven Grissom will become secretary of the department beginning Monday, taking over the job from Stephen Moret. Moret is leaving to lead LSU's chief fundraising organization.
Grissom has been in the agency's second-ranking position since 2008, nearly all of Jindal's time as governor. Before that, he worked with Moret at the Baton Rouge Area Chamber.
In a statement, Jindal described Grissom as being a "key part" of the economic development department's leadership team, a position that made him ready to lead the agency.
The appointment for the Jindal administration will be a brief one. The term-limited governor leaves office in January.
