Leaking gas pipeline secured in Assumption Parish
ASSUMPTION PARISH - A pipeline valve that was leaking gas and emitting a loud noise has been secured in Assumption Parish.
Acadian Gas reported the check valve on their pipeline opened Thursday morning. The noise could be heard throughout the community of Bayou Corne.
Workers were able to isolate the pipeline and reset the valve, stopping the leak.
The Assumption Office of Emergency Preparedness was on-site to monitor the situation.
