Leaders want trailer where gang rape happened towed out of town
ROSELAND- City leaders plan to discuss an abandoned trailer that was the scene of a violent attack on a young girl recently.
The unidentified 13-year-old was gang raped by six boys: three juveniles and three over 17. Police said the group coerced the teenager into the empty trailer, behind a church, known as "The Trapper." The trailer is located behind a church on Garrick Road.
The mayor told WBRZ News 2 Wednesday, the allegations against the group are disturbing. She said the trailer appears to be illegally located at the site, since there are laws forbidding the structure from being there.
There is a special town council meeting planned for Thursday and the zoning board is expected to discuss the trailer issue too.
Two have been arrested, three juveniles face processing through the parish's juvenile detention program, and a sixth is at large connected to the attack. Kevin Griffin and Trayvon Robertson face adult charges. Tevin Smith is wanted police said.
The grandfather of one of the suspects is a pastor at the church the trailer sits behind.
The mayor said it is her hope the trailer is towed out of town.
The council meeting is set for 5 p.m. at town hall.
