BATON ROUGE - The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries wants duck hunters to watch out for oil spill cleanup work.

Duck season opens Saturday and runs through Jan. 30.

The department says the Coast Guard and spill response workers will start work late this weekend to reduce crowding at boat ramps.

Other workers are trapping fish and taking samples of aquatic plants to assess environmental damage.

Hunters must stay at least 65 feet from their work and equipment.

Hunters also are asked to report any oiled birds they see to the department, and any harvested oiled birds must be kept as part of the daily bag limit, wrapped, and turned over to the department for oil spill damage assessment.
