LDWF: Drugs found on oyster boat
LAFOURCHE - State wildlife agents arrested a man last week after investigators said they found drugs on his boat.
Nick A. Collins, 42, from Golden Meadow was arrested for the possesion of marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of a firearm while in possession of marijuana and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Wildlife and fisheries agents said they were performing a routine boat inspection on Collins' oyster vessel when they found a gun. Because Collins had previous felony conviction, agents got a warrant to search his boat further.
Investigators said they found multiple metal containers of marijuana along with other drug-related paraphernalia used for distribution in the cabin of the boat.
Investigators booked Collins in Lafourche Parish Correctional Facility on drug possession and distribution charges.
