Lawyer for SC mother asks "keep an open mind"
The 29-year-old South Carolina woman accused of suffocating her two sons is expected to appear before an Orangeburg County judge this afternoon for an arraignment hearing on two murder charges.
Authorities say Shaquan Duley suffocated her young sons, then strapped their lifeless bodies into their car seats before rolling the vehicle into a river in a desperate cover-up attempt.
Duley's attorney says he hasn't had the opportunity to review any of the evidence against her. Carl Grant says, "We want everybody to keep an open mind and to understand that they don't know the whole story."
Investigators say Duley has confessed to the killing.
Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams says she was broke and jobless, and had been berated by her mother for her failings. He says she "wanted to be free."
