BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Louisiana's lawmakers are snapping up tickets to the BCS National Championship Game, but only the current legislators. New lawmakers are out of luck. Their terms start on game day.
Tickets to the Jan. 9 matchup between LSU and Alabama are selling for thousands of dollars on Internet auction sites. The Sugar Bowl Committee made four tickets available to each legislator who was in office when tickets went on sale, and LSU also freed up an additional two tickets for them.
The price is $350 per ticket.
Brenda Hodge, a spokeswoman for the state Senate, told The Advocate that all current senators purchased tickets. Sheila McCant, spokeswoman for the state House, says all but three of the current 105 state representatives bought tickets.
