State Representative Eddie Lambert, (R) Gonzales, says students are in danger because of a bad road in Ascension Parish. He is asking the state for money to widen LA 930 which runs in front of Prairieville Middle School.
He says buses almost have to run off the road in order to pass each other in certain locations.
Bus drivers echo Lambert's concerns. They say passing any large vehicle is a challenge. Some say they have to stop in the middle of the road to let students off the bus because there is no shoulder.
This is the third straight year Lambert has made the request. He says it will take about $500,000 for engineering work. The lawmaker says widening 930 from Parish Road 929 to LA 42 will cost about $9 million.
