Lawmaker blasts DHH secretary for not being at hearing
BATON ROUGE - A state representative said it was "very irresponsible" that the head of the Department of Health and Hospitals was not at a budget hearing today to answer questions about a controversial Medicaid contract cancelled last week.
Rep. Jim Fannin, the chair of the House Appropriations Committee, said Secretary Bruce Greenstein informed him two weeks ago he couldn't be at Tuesday's budget hearing. Instead the committee asked the Louisiana Inspector General to answer questions instead about the contract's details.
Greenstein faces scrutiny about a contract with CNSI which the Jindal administration canceled last week after word got out that it was the focus of a federal grand jury investigation. CNSI got the contract in 2011, and Greenstein used to work for the company. He denied any involvement in CNSI's selection for the lucrative contract.
