Law enforcement seek out meth labs
ASCENSION PARISH - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office recently busted two homes with active meth labs.
Maj. Kevin Hanna attributes deputy training to the high number of recent busts in the parish.
"We don't see an explosion, of meth labs, and I think that's contributed to us training our deputies and our plain clothes division across the board in how to recognize the precursors that it takes to make a meth lab." said Hanna.
Larry Douglas, owner of Xtreme Cleaners disposes of meth labs around the state. Since Jan. 1, Xtreme Cleaners has cleaned up over 60 meth labs.
"Meth in Louisiana is really a pretty big problem," said Douglas.
Douglas agrees, and says the recent spike to meth labs in Ascension is because of the training techniques.
Hanna says the Sheriff's Office will continue to search for signs of meth labs around the parish.
