Law enforcement attacking holiday crime from the sky
BATON ROUGE - Law enforcement in the Capitol City has new airborne weapons to fight holiday crimes.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office rolls out a surveillance tower to different popular holiday shopping areas across the parish every night.
The Baton Rouge Police Department has been putting its helicopter in the sky over similar areas, watching for burglaries and robberies.
The new tools are in-addition to beefed-up patrols, plain-clothes officer patrols and bait cars.
Both agencies say they've noticed fewer holiday crimes since the new initiatives, but can't guarantee they change is solely because of the change.
Shoppers say they've been noticing the new effort, and feel safer.
