BATON ROUGE - Overnight, shoppers took advantage of stores catering to procrastinators.

Cash registers are working extra at some stores where doors remain open without closing until Christmas Eve night.  At Kohl's, the store has been open all night since last Wednesday.

Employees signed up to work extra shifts until it closes for Christmas Thursday at 6 p.m.

"Kohl's does this for convenience of our customers," said Assistant Manager Paula Furr. "For people that work shift work and aren't able to do their shopping during the day. Really, we do it for them."

Plenty of other people have taken advantage of the late-night and last-minute shopping.  One woman who was shopping for her dad, brother and boyfriend said she has been too busy to shop.

"This is definitely by far the wort-ever last-minute shopping, ever," said Katherine Lyons.

Getting in and out of the parking lot at some locations takes a lot of patience, since so many people are out grabbing items for friends and loved ones.

Charles Berthelot was at Kohl's with family members picking up jewelry items.

"This year caught me off guard," he said.

Many shoppers are picking up great deals with some stores having sales 50-60 percent off.

Walmart, Target, Best Buy and Toys 'R' Us also have extended hours.
