UPDATE: Man apprehended after barricading himself in home
BATON ROUGE - A heavy police presence was established at the corner of Bay Street and North 17th Street Tuesday morning.
Witnesses told WBRZ reporter Michael Vinsanau, who was on the scene, a burglary suspect had barricaded himself inside a home. The suspect was inside a home a block from where the police had set up a perimeter. Dozens of unmarked police cars were there along with police wearing helmets and protective face shields.
According to Vinsanau, police have the man in custody, but his name has not yet been released. Police say the man was wanted for simple burgalry.
BRPD heard the man was in the area and upon contact, the man locked himself inside home. Police say there are no injuries.
