BATON ROUGE –LSU’s Alex Lange is back and back in control.

The Tigers ace looked sharp in the first start of his sophomore season, striking out 9 and giving up just 1 hit in 6.2 innings as LSU beat Cincinnati 4-0 Saturday afternoon at Alex Box Stadium.

Jake Fraley led the tigers with two runs scored while going 1-4 with a triple in the 1st inning. Fraley scored on a wild pitch during the next at-bat to open up the scoring for LSU, who added a solo home run from Greg Deichmann in the 2nd to take a 2-0 lead.

LSU scored 2 more runs in the 5th on a sac fly from Beau Jordan, while his brother Bryce added an RBI single to drive in Fraley to cap the scoring.

The story though, was Lange who looked brilliant in his second-season debut.

"Had some anxiety waking up and having breakfast," Lange said. "After that first pitch, it's baseball."

The final game of the three game series is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m.
