Landrieu launches TV ads
BATON ROUGE - Democratic U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu has launched her first TV ads in her bid for re-election.
The new ad talks about her push to keep people from losing their health insurance because of the federal health care overhaul.
Landrieu takes credit for President Obama's decision to let insurance companies to renew policies that had been set for cancellation.
Landrieu had introduced legislation requiring insurers to renew policies, before the President decided to allow it.
The commercial doesn't mention Landrieu's strong support for the federal health care revamp, which is unpopular in Louisiana.
Landrieu faces at least two Republican challengers in the 2014 election, including U.S. Rep. Bill Cassidy from Baton Rouge.
She is trying to win her fourth term in the Senate.
