Landfill on hold pending hearing
BATON ROUGE- A new landfill, planned for the northern area of the parish, is delayed until a court hearing.
City leaders and people who live near the planned facility don't believe a second landfill is needed in East Baton Rouge. Groups have publicly opposed the plans but the developers were awarded a permit anyway.
DEQ granted a landfill permit to Louisiana Land Acquisitions after two previous unsuccessful attempts.
A hearing is scheduled for July 21.
