Lake search suspended after report of downed plane
NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard in New Orleans says it has suspended a search of Lake Pontchartrain that was begun after authorities received a call about a possible small plane crash in the water near the city of Mandeville.
The call was received Saturday night. As of Sunday morning searchers had not spotted debris or other signs of a crash. And the Coast Guard says there have been no reports of missing or overdue aircraft.
New Orleans-based Coast Guard personnel searched for more than eight hours. The search was suspended late Sunday morning, pending any new developments.
