Lafayette police have released dashboard camera video of the arrest which ended with the death of a 28-year-old man after police used a stun gun on him.
The video shows Javon Rakestrau reaching into a pocket after a deputy tells him to put his hands on the hood of the patrol car. Then it shows him being pulled to the ground, and a scuffle that ends with a deputy shouting, "One tazed! One tazed!"
Deputies say an undercover officer had watched Rakestrau in a drug deal, and radioed his description to the arresting officer.
It turned out that he had reached into his pocket to throw out a bag of marijuana.
Two-year Deputy Chris Guidry is on leave while the department investigates the incident.
Capt. Kip Judice says it will be four to six weeks before autopsy results are available.
