Lafayette sheriff's deputy arrested, placed on leave
LAFAYETTE - A Lafayette Parish sheriff's deputy has been arrested for an alleged home invasion and placed on administrative leave without pay.
Capt. John Babin, in a news release, says 28-year-old Deputy Johnathon Lavoi was arrested Dec. 5 and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. KLFY-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1TwtzTO ) Lavoi allegedly entered a home without permission and hit someone in the face.
Lavoi has since been released from jail on a $5,000 bond. It was unknown if Lavoi has an attorney who could comment on the case.
Babin says Lavoi will stay on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation.
