Lafayette Boys & Girls Club shooting wounds 1 teen; 1 arrested
LAFAYETTE - Police in Lafayette say a 17-year-old boy was critically wounded in a shooting outside a Boys & Girls Club. A 15-year-old has been arrested.
Police say the violence broke out Tuesday afternoon as the two boys were playing basketball. They got into an argument and one pulled a gun, shooting the other multiple times before running away. He was arrested Tuesday night.
Other children who were playing in the area were rushed inside by staffers at the Boys & Girls Club.
Harold Alexander, the director of the Granberry Unit Boys & Girls Club told said that he has been at the facility for nearly 30 years and no such violence had occurred there before.
The identities of the victim and the alleged shooter were withheld because of their age.
