La. woman's body recovered from submerged car
A Lake Arthur woman's body has been recovered from a submerged vehicle in Bayou Nezpique, east of Jennings.
Divers pulled the body of 42-year-old Rhonda Istre Tucker from the submerged car several yards from the shoreline at about 11:20 a.m. Monday.
She was taken to a hospital in Jennings where she was pronounced dead.
Police say 23-year-old Edwin Evans of Jennings escaped without injuries and swam to the nearby shore.
Evans has been booked with vehicular homicide and careless operation.
Witnesses told police the car was moving forward when it went down the boat ramp and into the water.
