The Louisiana Tumor Registry gets a seven-year, $12 million contract to remain part of the National
Cancer Institute's registry.
The institute's Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results program - or SEER - is made up of 18 registries covering about 26 percent of the U.S. population.
The central office for Louisiana's registry has been at the LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans School of Public Health since 1995.
It also has eight regional offices.
