La. troops return home from Kuwait
BATON ROUGE - Christmas has come early for a number of local military families.
This morning members of the 922nd Horizontal Engineer Company of the Louisiana National Guard touched down at Baton Rouge Metro Airport. They've been in Kuwait for ten months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, conducting construction missions.
Family and friends waited eagerly at the airport to greet their soldiers as the plane landed.
"I'm so excited to see him and I'm proud of him. I'm glad they're going to return home safely," said Shellie Gautreau, whose husband is part of the unit.
The troops had a flight delay this morning in El Paso which set them back about an hour.
This was the second deployment for the unit.
