A man accused of killing a 13-year-old girl in 1996 and leaving her body under a bridge in Chambers County, Texas was arrested after a traffic stop in Louisiana.

Livonia police stopped a car in January for swerving between lanes, and arrested 45-year-old Kevin Edison Smith on a drug possession charge.

Louisiana police can take DNA samples during drug arrests.

Smith's went into a national database.

Texas authorities announced Friday that he is being held on $1 million bond in the death of Krystal Jean Baker.

Texas City, Texas, Police Chief Robert Burby says his officers found a DNA match on Sept. 14.
