La. Tech to open expanded intramural sports center
RUSTON - Louisiana Tech University will soon approach health and fitness in a whole new way.
The university is gearing up to unveil an extensive new addition to its Lambright Intramural Sports Center later this month, which will include an indoor competitive pool, an outdoor recreational pool with adjacent sundeck and cabana, a rock-climbing wall and wellness center.
The university will have a soft opening for the new facility April 16.
James King, vice president for student affairs at Louisiana Tech, says the idea behind the new expansion is to proactively promote a healthy lifestyle.
The roughly $12 million expansion, which broke ground in May 2010 and is funded by student fees, directly connects with the original facility to create one large recreational center.
