The Louisiana Department of Revenue has ended a program to certify contractors.
The revenue department said the program failed to make more contractors comply with the state's tax laws.
Resident contractors therefore no longer need to renew their certifications and nonresident contractors will no longer be required to pay a $10 application fee per contract or post a bond
with the Department of Revenue.
Nonetheless, resident and nonresident contractors will need to register with the Department of Revenue for tax purposes.
