La. tax amnesty program reaches $200M
BATON ROUGE -The 2013 state tax amnesty program has reached its goal of $200 million in collection for the 2014 fiscal year.
That's according to the state Department of Revenue.
The program offered noncompliant taxpayers an opportunity to settle their accounts with the state by paying all taxes due, with a waiver of all penalties and 50 percent of the interest.
Applications submitted by mail are valid as long as they were postmarked no later than Friday, November 22.
The total from the program is expected to increase as those applications and payments are received and processed.
