La. State Police investigating two deadly crashes
Louisiana State Police are investigating two deadly crashes that happened Friday evening.
The first crash happened on I-55 in Tangipahoa Parish.
Investigators say 20-year-old Jerome Johnson was hit by a car while walking across the road. Several people who were with Johnson told investigators he attempted suicide by crashing his car into the trees before he walked into the path of an oncoming car.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the oncoming car was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.
The second crash happened on U.S. 90 in St. Tammany Parish.
Investigators believe a car crossed the center line and hit a dump truck head-on. The car went up in flames.
The driver of the car, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
