Today is the opening of a new commercial season for Louisiana shrimpers.
There is uncertainty over low prices, whether consumers will buy their catch and if any danger still exists from the massive BP oil spill.
Harlon Pearce, chairman of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board, was optimistic that shrimpers will be eager to hit the waters Monday.
He accompanied a group of fishermen on a test-run in Grand Isle and Barataria Bay on Friday.
