The 2010 spring inshore shrimp season in parts of zones 1 and 3 will close at 6 a.m. Tuesday to protect increased numbers of juvenile white shrimp.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries says the closure is based on biological recommendations made by biologists and is not related to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
