BATON ROUGE - U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu and her two Republican competitors, Congressman Bill Cassidy and tea party favorite Rob Maness, have made their campaign pitches to Louisiana's mayors and town leaders.

Saturday's speeches at the Louisiana Municipal Association convention were a rare moment where all three contenders in the Nov. 4 election shared a stage.

Landrieu, a Democrat seeking her fourth term, highlighted her clout in the Senate and talked of her work across party lines.

Cassidy told the hundreds in attendance that Louisiana's race could decide control of the Senate. He said keeping the Senate in Democratic hands would keep the country headed in the wrong direction.

Maness, a political newcomer, said Congress was dysfunctional and the only way to change that was to elect people outside of the Washington establishment.
